Internship program in Tuscany (Italy)

 This program offers the possibility to experience the daily life of nutritionists and dietitians at work in the Italian healthcare industry, with a series of 1) workshops and visits in-hospital to the units dealing with endocrinology, metabolic diseases, cancer surgery and parenteral nutrition 2) group works, simulations and vis-a-vis sessions with the patients and the experts of an Italian Rehab Center of excellence for the treatment of eating disorders


WEEK 1 (January 20/24) will be held at the hospitals of Massa and Carrara, under the supervision of Dr. Prof. Angiolo Tagliagambe, renowned Italian expert, professor and researcher in the field of cancer radiosurgery and 4.0 technologies for the cancer treatment. Plenary sessions dedicated to the presentation and discussion of case studies and best practices in nutrition and dietetics, will be alternated with rotation visits to the crisis units dealing with endocrinology and metabolic diseases, clinical and parenteral nutrition. At the end of this session, participants will receive a Certificate of attendance  signed by Dr. Tagliagambe and the CMO Giuliano Biselli.

WEEK 2 (January 27/31) will be focused on management and organizational issues, best practices and working methods of an Italian Rehab Center of excellence, Madre Cabrini DCA in Pontremoli (Tuscany), which is renowned for the high rate of success in treating eating disorders, thanks to the application of a multidisciplinary approach which combines nutritional counseling with psychological assistance and work with the patients’ families. Participants will be immersed in the daily life of a Rehab Center, interacting vis a vis with patients, doctors, nutritionists, psychiatrists, and psychologists, dieticians, educators, nurses, physiotherapists and experts of physical education and rehabilitation.

At the end of this session, participants will receive a Certificate of the Internship conducted at Madre Cabrini DCA.

LOGISTICS Participants shall arrive on Sunday January 19 at the Pisa airport. A shuttle will take the students to Pontremoli, a little gem of the Region Tuscany  which amazes visitors with the richness of its Baroque palaces and churches and the beauty of its natural resources. For the whole duration of the program, participants will stay at a local Residence, sharing double rooms.

Fees & Obligatory Requirements

Fees of Euro 1650 include: BAU Global Application Fee; pick up  and drop  off at the airport of Pisa, accommodation in double room to share at local Residence, training, workshops and shuttle to the hospitals of Massa and Carrara  for the in-hospital training.

Students admitted to attend this program must: 1) Pay their enrollment fees in order to receive admission and invitation letters necessary to apply for a touristic visa, which is mandatory if they are NON EU.
